Entergy Services : Temporary Base Camp for Mutual Assistance Line Workers
Client: Entergy Services, Inc.
Location: Jackson, MS
Period of Performance: 9/1/08 - 9/14/08
In anticipation of hurricane Gustav, Entergy Services contacted Deployed Resources on August 28th 2008 to discuss potential base camp solutions to house mutual assistance workers who were already en-route to assist with expected damage from the storm. With an existing contingency conversion plan in place, we were able to offer the option of converting our primary staging yard in Jackson, MS into a 500 person turn-key base camp. As the storm came closer to landfall, Entergy elected to exercise this option. Upon notice to proceed all facilities were converted and ready for occupants within 48 hours.
The facility included tented climate-controlled housing to accommodate 500 persons, showers, restrooms, self-service laundry, office space for administrative personnel, and a dining facility capable of seating 250. As the utility crews arrived at the camp, each occupant was assigned a bed and provided with fresh linens and a personal hygiene pack. Three hot meals were served each day. 24/7 security, and janitorial / maintenance services were also provided.

Colstrip Power Plant Maintenance : Temporary Water System
Client: North American Electrical Contractors
Location: Colstrip, MT
Period of Performance: 5/1/07 - 7/1/07
Located in a remote area, the Colstrip power plant is the largest power generating facility in Montana. In May of 2007, one of the 4 coal fired generating units needed unscheduled maintenance that would require 52 welders and take approximately 2 months to complete. Without the availability of local hotels, excessive staff transportation would have delayed the project. To overcome this, Deployed Resources was contracted to provide a 52-person hardwall camp on site. The camp included containerized housing units, showers, restrooms, a self-service laundry facility, potable water delivery and storage, gray water storage and removal, power generation and distribution, and an on site technician available 24/7. Prior to installation our project management coordinated with local government to obtain permits for temporary housing and installed wastewater and fuel berms to prevent any negative environmental impact. The temporary accommodations at Colstrip helped NAES complete the plant maintenance on budget and ahead of schedule. Upon contract completion all base camp areas were demobilized to zero-trace status and verified by local government.
