Disaster and Emergency Management Program

Richard Cheek, Emergency Management Director for Deployed Resources, just completed two web-based presentations for the masters students at Nova Southeastern University. The students are studying in the College of Osteopathic Medicine, Disaster and Emergency Management Program, and the presentations were for their All-Hazards Preparedness Course.  These students are all candidates for their Masters Degree in Emergency Management, Public Health, and Criminal Justice. Richard’s topic was an “Introduction to Disaster Logistics.”  In the one and a half  hour presentation on the concepts of logistics as it applies during a disasters, topics presented included:  principles of logistics during disaster operations and the whole community concept, logistics challenges, philosophy of emergency logistics, logistics processes, documentation, and phases of logistics planning. Richard is schedule for his next presentation on March 28th. His topic will be “Contracting Your Way Through a Disaster.”
